Explore health education, early detection, wellness and prevention programs.
Our commitment to improving your health and well-being includes helping you take better care of yourself before needing hospitalization. That’s why we make a substantial donation to the ECU Health Foundation each year to support the Community Benefit Grants Program.
ECU Health’s Community Benefit Grants Program focuses on early detection, wellness and prevention, community health initiatives, and direct health care services. We provide education, health management tools and easier access to local programs for those who need them most.
Each hospital’s grants program aims to meet local needs identified by the Community Health Needs Assessments conducted in partnership with county health departments. The hospital’s grants review committee includes medical professionals and hospital team, as well as representatives from the county health department, local health coalition and community.

How To Receive Funding
Non-profit organizations qualified for tax exemption under the Internal Revenue Code and government entities are eligible for funding through an individual hospital’s grant program. A copy of the IRS Letter of Determination must be submitted along with a Letter of Intent via our online grant system only.
Application & Evaluation Process
The ECU Health Foundation determines whether to issue a call for letters of intent each year, usually in November or December. The grant funding cycle begins July 1 of the following year, for a one-year period. The call for letters of intent will be advertised in the local newspaper for each ECU Health hospital.
A grants review committee considers each letter received. If your organization’s request meets the program’s objectives and priorities, you may be invited to submit a full application. The committee will evaluate the application and make a recommendation to the Foundation’s Community Benefit and Appropriations Committee to submit its review to the ECU Health Foundation Board of Trustees. The board will vote on the recommendation and notify your organization of its decision.
If you need additional information or have questions about the Community Benefit Grants Program, please call 252-847-0692.
