Understanding your bill and billing.

Understanding your bill for health care services can be challenging. Here, you’ll find guidance to help you understand charges and the bill itself. Frequently asked questions and a glossary of terms will help you navigate the billing. Also find information about how and where you can pay your bill.

As an ECU Health patient, you may receive more than one type of bill for services. Some of the doctors on your care team while in an ECU Health hospital may not be employed by ECU Health, and you will get a separate bill from them.

UNDUE MEDICAL DEBT
National nonprofit Undue Medical Debt and ECU Health have announced an agreement to help eliminate more than $186 million in past-due hospital medical debt for more than 32,000 qualifying patients*. Debt relief letters will arrive over the course of December’s holiday season into the New Year on a rolling basis given the size of this relief effort. Undue Medical Debt works with hospital systems across the country to purchase past due medical debt and then erases the debt. Letters for community members who qualify for this one-time debt relief directly received a branded letter from Undue Medical Debt indicating which debt or debts have been eliminated. Community members do not need to take any action, as the eligible medical debt will automatically be eliminated for those who qualify. For more information, visit https://www.UndueMedicalDebt.org/.

*Will include effective date.
