Behavioral Health Programs
Outpatient Services
ECU Health Behavioral Health provides outpatient behavioral health services and programs in multiple locations in our region. We offer individual, group and/or family sessions designed and recommended to meet your particular needs. We also offer an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at ECU Health Multispecialty Clinic – Tarboro (252-641-8246) as well as Structured Outpatient Programs at ECU Health Bertie Hospital in Windsor (252-794-6637) and ECU Health Chowan Hospital in Edenton (252-482-6347).
In Greenville, the ECU Outpatient Psychiatry Center serves as the principal resource for outpatient psychiatry in Pitt and surrounding counties. The Center provides a diverse array of services including medication management, multi-modal therapies and neuropsychological testing in addition to Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) or Intranasal Ketamine for difficult to control mood disorders. In Ahoskie, an ECU Health Behavioral Health outpatient clinic (252-209-8161) is located adjacent to the specialty hospital and in Washington, the ECU Outpatient Behavioral Health clinic is across from hospital. There are also ECU Health Behavioral Health clinics in Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia and Ocracoke. Inpatient Services
In addition to convenient outpatient care across the region, six specialized inpatient units are available between ECU Health Medical Center and ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.
Collaborative Care
ECU Health provides care for depression and anxiety at selected primary care and specialty clinics where both behavioral health and physical health treatment is provided by physicians, therapists and psychiatric consultants.

ECU Health and Acadia partner to build a new behavioral health hospital
Slated to open in spring 2025, ECU Health and Acadia Healthcare announced plans to build a state-of-the-art, 144-bed behavioral health hospital in the medical district of Greenville, less than a mile from ECU Health Medical Center. This new facility will be a center of excellence, providing North Carolinians with important access to behavioral health services and treatment from specialized clinical teams in a carefully designed environment.
