“I’m grateful for the opportunity I have as a nurse.”
Michelle Kelley BSN, RN, CRRN, Rehabilitation Medicine Nurse at ECU Health Medical Center, shares her story.
“No one in my immediate family growing up was in the medical field. I just knew I wanted to help people. My mom always taught me that you need a career that can provide for your family, a career with job security. The Rehab center is like no other. I’m always learning something new. We see a variety of patients – sometimes challenging ones but you learn a lot. ECU Health is really great about growing their own! I finished up my bachelor’s degree and benefited from the tuition assistance program. My input is valued by my peers and leadership. I feel like my voice is heard. If you are willing to put in the time and have great work ethic, management is willing to work with what’s best for you and your work schedule.
At ECU Health Medical Center you have access to a Level I trauma center and Greenville is a great town. You get it all without having to live in a big city. We are in a good location for traveling, vacation spots and the university is nearby. It’s really a tight-knit community, fast-growing and great cost of living.
I’m grateful for the opportunity I have as a nurse. I’ve shared my experience with my family. My sister has been a teacher for many years… through my shared experiences she decided to go back to nursing school and graduated this May. Nursing is a promising career.”
